From a Mauritian Feed Producer to a Regional Food-Supply Player

Created in 1977, Livestock Feed Limited has grown from a Mauritian animal-feed producer into a regional group operating across Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles, Rwanda and Kenya. Its business remains close to the first layer of the food chain: feed supply, livestock productivity, farmer support and the reliability of agricultural value chains.

The group’s scale has widened with its regional footprint. In 2025, LFL reported 655 employees, up from 604 a year earlier, and production of 220,000 tonnes, compared with 200,000 tonnes in 2024. Turnover for the year ended June 30, 2025 stood at Rs 6.16 billion, with profit after tax of Rs 384 million, up from Rs 351 million the previous year.

The latest unaudited figures show continued growth. For the nine months ended March 31, 2026, turnover rose 21.3% to Rs 5.61 billion, operating profit increased 30.9% to Rs 499.1 million, and profit for the period climbed 56.0% to Rs 386.7 million. International operations generated Rs 3.14 billion in revenue, up 38.6% year-on-year, while Mauritius operations reached Rs 2.37 billion, up 4.0%.

In the following pages, Romain Harel, Managing Director of LFL, discusses regional resilience, sourcing security and Mauritius’ role as the group’s anchor. Fabrice Zarour, Business Development in East Africa, looks at animal protein demand, the professionalisation of farmers and the partnerships needed to strengthen local agricultural value chains.
